NYC Color City Samba Collection: Quickie Review and Swatches @nycnewyorkcolor

I'm back with another New York Color Collection:  City Samba.  This collection was a summer collection.  I picked up one of the bronzers, two of the nail polishes, and the three lip glosses.
Left to right:  Sun N' Bronze Bronzing Powder in Coral Samba Bronzer, Liquid Lipshine in Guava, Papaia, and Passion Fruit, and Nail Polish in

Close up of the three colors of the bronzer. As you can see, not a lot of color for me for separately.
But a nice warm glow when swirled together.

Overall, a very pretty warm collection.  Now I just need to look out for the fall collection.  Has anyone seen those popping up in stores yet?

New York Color is available at Rite Aid.

Dream Day Styling Challenge with Lover.ly

No the beau hasn't bestowed a ring upon me...yet, lol. And no I'm not stressing it but there's nothing wrong with popping on Lover.ly and getting ideas for that special day. Lover.ly is a new site for planning your dream date with your sweetie.  It features great articles on planning your wedding along with what's new in celebrity style, wedding dresses, and beauty.  Not looking to plan a big shin-ding, there's even information on how to elope.

Now I'm the only girl in my generation so when I do get married, there will be no eloping.  My mother and my aunt would have a fit.  Now years ago, when I was in my 20's and planning the wedding that never was, I had so many ideas but let people lead me in the direction they thought I should go.  At 41, I'm not afraid to take charge and create a day that I think my beau and I would enjoy.  Now he's a bit conservative and I'm the artsy one but I think he'd be surprised to find that my wedding style is still pretty traditional.

I picture City Glam.
I'm not a beach girl and although he loves the woods, he's also very sophisticated.  I see our families sipping cocktails while a great soundtrack of 80's and 90's music is mixed together with his favorite jazz and bebop in the background.

The color scheme of course would have to be a nod to my love of color.

Shades of red and coral would play together against traditional lace.  Red is my all time favorite color and coral is just so lovely.  It's warm and sensual at the same time.  And coral is extremely flattering.  If you find the right shade, your bridal party will glow. Besides all red, my beau is not playing that.  I think his favorite colors are black and white which is fine by me because he looks great in both.

I design stationery and I'm a font addict.  These invites are just amazing!  Any invitation we pick, even if it has to be more traditional for his taste, must have amazing font and design.

Though I know some are forgoing a veil these days, I still want to wear one. It's like giving your future husband a present to unwrap.  I love the vintage look of a mantilla veil.  It may be a bit much with this Rivini gown but I'm not above a similar look in a strapless gown. I'm sure to find something in Rivini's line because they carry plus sizes. Yes!!!

No blue shoes for me. I need that pop of red on my feet.  I don't wear heels often but for once I'd like my beau to not see me as a munchkin.  Even if its only for a couple of hours.  Unfortunately, he would still tower over me even when I'm wearing these Badgley Mischka heels.

This cake is pretty close to what I envision but I would lose the flower and maybe add a monogram or rhinestone embellishment. I'm trying to convince beau that it's ok for him to want a Star Trek groom's cake. I showed him a Doctor Who cake and he was hypnotized.

I love flowers but I'm a wildflower and exotic flower kind of girl.  There can be roses but there must be something different included. The leucospermums and brown hypericum berries take this bouquet to a new level.

Lover.ly was a great place to look for ideas for my future dream date.  Now I just need my beau to pick out that vintage Asscher cut diamond ring. He assures me he has impeccable taste in jewelry. We shall see.

Apothecary Extracts Australian Tea Tree Oil

I was recently given the opportunity to review Apothecary Extracts Australian Tea Tree Oil.  Tea Tree is a very versatile essential oil.  It can be used to naturally treat acne and other skin conditions.  It can also be used in bath and body products along with household cleaners and disinfectants.
First things first, I love the packaging.
I love old fashioned labels and this makes the product look more expensive than your average oil.
The label features information about tea tree oil and its suggested uses.

Although the bottle is only 4 oz., you don't need to use a lot in your preparations.  The bottle comes with 100 page guide featuring recipes for your skin, hair, and your home.  Because I've been suffering from an abundance of bug bites, I decided to use the tea tree oil to treat them.  I'm allergic to most bites and tend to itch really bad and swell up with hives.  The booklet includes a recipe for a Tea Tree Oil and Butter Itch Relief Balm.  I had great results with controlling my itching and the swelling in my hives was minimal.  I was glad to find an alternative to Neosporin.  I always worry about using chemical treatments on a high level.  Next, I plan on using the Tea Tree Oil in a hair conditioner.  I've found conditioners with tea tree oil work well with clarifying my hair.

My only complaint about the oil is the smell.  It is very strong.  After using it, I could smell it in my bathroom for hours.  The smell wasn't as strong when mixed with other ingredients but alone it's potent. The smell is probably so strong because this oil is undiluted so you're getting 100% pure tea tree oil.

Apothecary Extracts Australian Tea Tree Oil can be found at Amazon.com.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Taking the Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 #peelchallenge @brandbacker @NeoStrataSkin

I was recently asked to take part in the #peelchallenge from Exuviance Skincare through Brandbacker.com. Exuviance offers an assortment of products for exfoliation, cleansing, and sun protection.  To complete the challenge, I received the Performance Peel AP5, the Optilight Essential 6 Serum, and the Evening Restorative Complex.
The Exuviance Performance Peel AP5 exfoliates dead, dull surface layers, and stimulates the process of cell renewal among all skin layers, to reveal healthier cells.
The package comes with an Activator Pad which I applied first to my freshly clean face.  Upon application, I noticed a tingling sensation but it quickly died down.  I didn't notice any discomfort or annoying smell.
After ten minutes, I removed the peel with the enclosed neutralizer pad to stop the peel process.  I followed up with a quick rinse of water.  After a few uses, I noticed my face appeared a little brighter.
To go along with the peel, I received the Optilight Essential 6 Serum.  This serum promises to fade dark spots by targeting pigment control systems and breaking up darker pigmented areas.  It also promises to keep dark spots from occurring.  This serum is very lightweight and applies easily.  I don't see adopting this into my facial regimen because I don't have dark spots on my face but I will be using this on dark spots I have from bug bites on my arms. (This summer has been the worst.)

The final item I received was actually my favorite item, Evening Restorative Complex.  This anti-aging cream promises to deliver velvety skin. Normally, night creams are thick and I stay away from them to avoid breakouts.  This cream, however, is not heavy and absorbs easily into the skin.  It was also light enough for daytime and I used it after using the Performance Peel without it causing any acne flareups.

Overall thoughts:
While I didn't experience any irritation, I did experience some dryness.  If you have sensitive skin like me, a peel may not be a good idea for you. I would definitely recommend the Evening Restorative Complex if you're looking for a nice night cream.

You can take the #peelchallenge yourself by picking up the Exuviance Performance Peel AP25.
